RADIO SIN FRONTERAS

Somerton Arizona, 2017 Gala Dinner

This year 2018, the non-profit organization Campesinos Sin Fronteras (CSF) has geared up to run its very own radio station. This following its first fundraising event, a Gala Dinner which was held November 2017.

The fundraising event took place at the César Chávez Cultural Center, on November 3, 2017 in Somerton Arizona, where numerous local government officials and community leaders gathered to support the cause. Campesinos set out to meet its goal that evening, which was approximated to be $ 100,000 for start-up expenses.

Emma Torres, Executive Director of the non-profit and host of the event, thanked the attendees for their presence and support in this project set to hit the airwaves late March 2018. Director Torres explained that the station KYMZ Radio Without Borders, will allow their organization to launch large communication campaigns that will aid their efforts to continue promoting community health and well-being.

She went on to say "operating a radio station with such a strong signal will be a way to reach and help the community stay informed, offering not only entertainment, but information on personal and family health issues, cultural programming, community services, transmission of local events, news and the participation of local artists from our border communities ".

Radio Sin Fronteras will be powered with 25kw for the 99.9 MHz Modulated Frequency and will be the third most powerful bilingual station in Yuma County, reaching approximately 1.4 million people. This figure consists of Yuma County and the Mexican community of San Luis Río Colorado, the bordering Sonora and Baja California Mexico area, the communities of Imperial County, Brawley, Calexico and El Centro California, as well as the Mexican metropolitan area located in Mexicali, Baja California.
